As a not-for-profit, the Afro-American Heritage Center obtained an advance ruling as an exempt organization from Federal income tax under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue code October of 2007. As of May of 2009, new IRS regulations changed the procedures governing the organizations’ public charity status and the AAHC qualifies as public charity unless the IRS changes that status. Contributions made may be tax deductible according to individual circumstance.
Our Most Immediate Need is You
At present, the organization has its temporary office in the home of its founder. Public activities are held at libraries and other community meeting places for little or no fee to the organization. Once permanently housed, the organization will be able to offer an array of programs and services.
A modern or fully rehabilitated facility is necessary. The long-term envisioned facility will provide an academically focused, safe and visually appealing atmosphere. The surrounding neighborhood chosen for the facility will obtain distinction. This future projection is to build a 10,000 – 12,000 sq. ft. facility at an estimate of probable cost of $1.2 million dollars (2006 dollars). At present, however, the organization is seeking to lease or purchase a facility of 1000 sq. ft minimum in order to start serving our target audience with educational programs. Much more financial support that is needed to meet this initial goal.

Our doors can open with as few as 500 individuals, organizations or other groups contributing just $5 monthly ($60) for 12 months. Will you help us reach this goal?
